Lab 8: Drop Down Menus and Dates

Part I. Getting Started

• Create a directory called Lab8 and place all the parts of this lab in the directory.

Part II. Play with Drop Down Menus

• Start with the IE Fix Drop Down example from week 10. It can be found at http://cs.metrostate.edu/~fitzgesu/courses/ics225/spring2007/examples/dropdownmenus/menus3.htm . Alternatively, start with the Another Way to Do It example found at http://cs.metrostate.edu/~fitzgesu/courses/ics225/spring2007/examples/dropdownmenus/secondapproach.htm

• Remove the underline from the links

• Change the link color on rollover

• Add a URL to several of the links in the submenus

• Change the color of the links after they have been visited

• Make the menu boxes narrower

• Change the color of the box outline

• Change the color of the text

• Change the color of the background

• Change the font

• Make the text larger or smaller

Part III. Playing with Dates

• Retrieve the current date and display it in the format: month day, year (e.g., March 13, 2007).

• Retrieve the current time and display the hours and minutes using a 24-hour clock (e.g., 14:50)

Part IV. Finishing Up

• Upload your pages to the class server and test to be sure nothing broke.
