Re: Project #2
Well done! The websites for project #2 are, in general, highly functional and in many cases entertaining. It was a pleasure to grade your projects.
Technical comments:
1. Everyone successfully saved and read their data from a file.
2. The most common error was not sorting the customer data by last name.
Things to think about for project #3:
1. Please put your URL on your cover sheet.
2. Remember to estimate and report on time spent on project #3.
3. Work on making your web sites look attractive and professional.
- All pages should have the same look and feel – same header, footer and navigation bars.
- At a minimum there should be a “Home” link from every page.
- Color contrast between background and foreground should be high.
- Use sans serif fonts such as Arial, Verdana, etc., rather than Times New Roman.
- “Focus” the cursor in the first field when entering a form or “focus” on the field in error when validating fields.
- Consider making your text and forms more compact. Try to avoid scrolling if possible.
4. Take a look at some professional websites to see what they look like. For example, http://www.simondelivers.com/ is an online grocery store.
5. When error checking/validating fields, check fields in the same order in which they appear on the screen. Stop after reporting one error message. Do not erase the contents of the field that has an error in it – the user will want to look at what they typed to see what was wrong.
If for some reason you believe that I’ve missed something when I graded your project, please drop me an email immediately (tonight). Do not alter your project files in any way. I will go over any questions with you individually during lab time when I return.
All in all, nicely done projects.
